A new film body has been formed to give a push to film industry in Telangana. At a meeting held here on Monday, members of the film fraternity belonging to Telangana announced the formation of the new body which tentatively has been named as Telangana Cinema Chamber of Commerce. A membership drive will be taken up for the body. Members of the AP Film Chamber of Commerce from Telangana region are entitled to get membership in the newly-formed association
Well-known director N Shankar, who made ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’ was unanimously elected president of the new body, while SyedRafi, who made ‘Inkennalu’ will be general secretary. Like the AP Film Chamber of Commerce, the new chamber will also have four different sectors – producers, distributors, exhibitors and studio owners. Director AllaniSridhar will head the Telangana film directors association.
The Telangana Film Employees Federation that is being formed will have members from 24 crafts of the film industry. For some of the crafts like fighters, dancers and production managers, the office-bearers have also been finalized. During a three-hour meeting attended by nearly 150 film personalities at Kamalapuri colony, the members discussed ways and means of developing the film industry in Telangana.
Syed Rafi, general secretary of the newly-formed body, said they would seek affiliation Film Federation of India and other all-India bodies.
Interestingly, members of the newly-formed body claimed that their association as the ‘real body’ that will work for the development of the film industry in Telangana. It may be mentioned here that already a separate Telangana body exists in the form of the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce. This was earlier known as the Hyderabad State Film Chamber of Commerce. Following the agitation for a separate Telangana, the name was changed to Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce a few years ago.
