Navadurga stotram is a prayer to nine forms of Goddess Durga (Navadurga) worshipped in Navratri Durga Puja.As per the Markandeya Purana, Navadurga aspects are – Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda Devi, Skanda mata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidhatri.

Shri Nava Durga Stotram In English and Its Meaning:
Prathamam Sailaputrhi Cha Dvithiyam Brahmacharini |
Trithiyam Chandra Ghanteti Khusmhandeti Caturthakam ||
Meaning: First is the goddess of inspiration and second the goddess of sacred study, third is the goddess of the delight of practice, the goddess of purifying austerity is fourth.

Panchamam Skandamathethi Sastham Kathyayanithi Cha |
Sapthamam Kalarathrithi Mahagaurithi Chastamam ||
Meaning: Fifth is the godess who nutures divinity, sixth is the one who is ever pure, seventh is the goddess of the dark night of overcoming egotism, the goddess of the great radiant light is the eighth.

Navamam Siddhidathri Cha Navadurgaah Prakitrithaah |
Uktaanneythani naamani Brahmanaiva Mahaatmana ||
Meaning: Ninth is the Goddess who grants perfection, the nine durgas, relievers of difficulties, have been enumerated, and these names have been revealed by the great soul of the supreme himself.

SHAILPUTRI (The Daughter of Mountain) – Day 1
dEvee Sailaputree
vandE vaanCitalaabhaaya candraardhakRutaSEkharaaM |
vRuShaarooDhaaM SooladharaaM Sailaputree yaSasvineem ||
Meaning: Ma Sailaputri daughter of Himalaya purely,
For achievement of desired, I adore Sailaputri,
Who made crescent-moon as a head-crown truly,
Is seated on an ox, holds a trident, and is glory.

BRAHMACHARINI (Penance Doer) – Day 2
dEvee brahmacaariNee
dadhaanaa karapadmaabhyaamakShamaalaa kamaNDaloo |
dEvee praseedatu mayi brahmacaariNyanuttamaa ||
Meaning: Ma Brahmacarini with tapa of love gorgeously,
Holding in her hand an aks.mala, a garland of rosary,
And kamandal in Her lotus-hand ever affectionately,
Who is unsurpassed – be gracious to me kindly.

CHANDRAGHANTA (Lunargong) – Day 3
dEvee candraghaNTEti
piNDajapravaraarooDhaa candakOpaastrakairyutaa |
prasaadaM tanutE mahyaM candraghaNTEti viSrutaa ||
Meaning: Ma Chandraghanta establishes justice ever virtuously,
Who is seated on the best among birds [Garuda] visibly,
Who is furious with anger and strength unquestionably,
Who is famous for saving from danger all her devotees.

KUSHMANDA (Cosmic Egg Layer) – Day 4
dEvee kooShmaaMDaa
suraasampoorNakalaSaM rudhiraaplutamEva ca |
dadhaanaa hastapadmaabhyaaM kooShmaaNDaa Subhadaastu mE ||
Meaning: Ma Kushmanda the Creator of the Universe purely,
Whose hands are ever holding two pots symbolically,
Filled with sura (elixir) and blood characteristically,
Who is famed – bestow your favour on me kindly.

SKANDAMATA (The Mother of Skanda) – Day 5
dEveeskandamaataa
siMhaasanagataa nityaM padmaaSritakaradvayaa |
Subhadaastu sadaa dEvee skandamaataa yaSasvinee ||
Meaning: Ma Skandamata discerns from right and wrong surely,
Who is permanently seated on the throne royally,
Whose two-hands are honoured by lotuses prettily,
Who is glorious – bestows favour on me kindly.

KATYAYANI DEVI (The Daughter of Katyayana) – Day 6
dEveekaatyaayaNee
candrahaasOjjvalakaraa Saardoolavaravaahanaa |
kaatyaayanee SubhaM dadyaadEvee daanavaghaatinee ||
Meaning: Ma Katyayani battles against evil and deceitful entities,
Whose hands are white like moon-dazzle virtuously,
Who seated on a mighty-tiger, kills demons pitilessly,
May she bestow auspicion on me sympathetically.

KALRATRI (Deadly Night) – Day 7

EkavENee japaakarNapoora nagnaa kharaasthitaa |
lambOShThee karNikaakarNee tailaabhyaktaSareeriNee ||
vaamapaadOllasallOhalataakaNTakabhooShaNaa |
vardhanamoordhvajaa kRuShNaa kaalaraatrirbhayankaree ||
Meaning: Ma Kalaratri destroyer of all the demon entities,
Goddess Kalaratri fierce in her appearance truly,
Resembles a black-lotus – her form and body,
Whose laugh is terrific – bestow favour kindly.

MAHAGAURI (The White Force) – Day 8
dEveemahaagauree
SvEtE vRuShE samaarooDhaa SvEtaambaradharaa SuciH |
mahaagauree SubhaM dadyaanmahaadEvapramOdadaa ||
Meaning: Ma Mahagauri calm, kind existing peacefully,
Riding on a great white-elephant majestically,
In white-apparel, pure, delights Mahadeva surely,
May she bestow auspicion on me serenely.

SIDDHIDATRI (Boon Giver) – Day 9
dEveesiddhidaatri
siddhagandharvayakShaadyairasurairamarairapi |
sEvyamaanaa sadaa bhooyaat siddhidaa siddhidaayinee ||
Meaning: Ma Siddhidatri baths knowledge over her devotees,
Who is served by siddha, celestial-bards reverently,
Apparitions, demons and demi-gods respectfully,
May she bestow siddhi on me with supreme felicity.
